It is observed that the way we breathe, explains the way we live our lives. We have the power to change the way we live- through our breath. You take 15000 breaths a day and none of it is conscious.
This is conscious breathing.
This is an effective healing technique and is 4000 years old. It was taught by Taoist masters, in India; and is a form of kriya yoga.
Sub conscious breathing
Sub conscious breathing or shallow breathing can affect you drastically. The nature of shallow breathing is very sly. It starts to affect gradually causing:
- Rapid heartbeats
- Chest pains
- Feeling faint
And then gradually leading to severe problems like cardiac arrests. Some people get hospitalized due to anxiety attacks and what they don’t know is that, shallow breathing plays the major role in this scenario. Which makes it so important for you to pay attention to how you’re breathing.
Shallow breathing is the caterpillar compared to hyperventilation that is the butterfly. If shallow breathing is done for too long, you start to hyper ventilate. Which means that shallow breathing is not lack of oxygen in your lungs but theoretically too much of it in your lungs. When you shallow breathe you take in oxygen faster than you throw out carbon di oxide. Co2 takes time to develop, and every time you exhale you throw out more co2 than that which is produced in your body.
