In this final part of the series we will be making use of Cinnamon (Daalcheenee) to add color highlights to our hair. Who knew that this sweet smelling spice was a mild hair bleacher and to top it all off it smells very good. Additionally, cinnamon is not only known for its bleaching effects, it has a ton of health benefits. It is a great source of manganese, fiber, iron, and calcium.

Several studies suggest that 1/2 teaspoon of cinnamon per day can lower cholesterol. It has a regulatory effect on blood sugar, it can relieve arthritis pain, and it inhibits bacterial growth in food and smelling cinnamon boosts cognitive function and memory.

Mix ground cinnamon with honey

  • Add 2 table spoons of honey and 1 table spoon of ground cinnamon to a bowl and make a paste.

Add Olive Oil and Conditioner

  • Add a little olive oil and a little conditioner to the mixture to reduce the thickness of the paste so it is easy to spread on the hair.
  • The conditioner also helps the cinnamon to stick to your hair

Add Water

  • Add in a little bit of water to make it thinner and easier to apply to your hair.

Let the mixture sit for 30 minutes

  • Honey contains a small amount if hydrogen peroxide and mixing it with cinnamon will activate it, the reason we let the mixture sit is to let the hydrogen peroxide develop

Dampen your hair

  • Brush out your hair. Make sure there are no knots.
  • use a spray bottle or wet your brush and comb with it to dampen your hair a little before application.

Apply the mixture

  • If you want to color all over, scrub the mixture all over your hands and apply it through your hair.
  • Or if you want to add highlights, take a little mixture on your fingers and apread it on the strands of hair you wish to highlight.

Leave it overnight

  • If you have applied the mixture all over, put on a shower cap and leave it overnight (6-8 hours).
  • Or if you have applied the mixture on selected areas, cover the hair strands with silver foil (the one we use to wrap food) put on a shower cap and leave it overnight (6-8 hours).

Do the whole process twice with a gap of 4-5 days and you will see the difference.
